    While the previous notes focused on the bright spice and dark fruit, this perspective highlights the deeper, wood-driven, and confectionery layers brought out by the sweet PX hogsheads:
    • Nose: Dominant notes of rich black treacle, maple syrup, and dark chocolate, layered underneath a distinct aroma of leather, polished oak, and candied orange peel.
    • Palate: A highly oily texture featuring heavy notes of marzipan, dark honey, and espresso beans. The characteristic pot still black pepper spice is softened here by a thick, velvety layer of caramel and stewed figs.
    • Finish: Very warming and dry, with the sweet sherry notes fading into a lingering finish of dark cocoa, cloves, walnut shells, and charred oak. [1]
